Used-car reliability scores that don't sugarcoat it

Auto Savage scores any used vehicle from public complaints, NHTSA recalls, and Technical Service Bulletins, then walks you through a driveway inspection checklist before you buy. Get a free, brutally honest reliability roast and a negotiation script you can read to the seller.

How Auto Savage works

  1. Enter the year, make, and model of the used car you're considering.
  2. Auto Savage researches public complaints, recalls, and TSBs to score engine, transmission, steering & suspension, electrical, and maintenance cost reliability.
  3. Run the driveway inspection checklist — look, listen, and feel for the known issues Auto Savage flags.

Copyright and DMCA notices

Auto Savage is run by Polyforge Bitworks LLC. We respect copyright and respond to notices of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. 512).

This page explains our process. It is not legal advice. If you are unsure whether material infringes, consider talking to a lawyer before sending a notice.

Reporting infringement (takedown notice)

If you believe material on one of our services infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to act for, send a written notice to our designated agent (below). Under 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3), the notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature (or that of the person authorized to act for the copyright owner).
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed (or a representative list if there are several).
  3. Identification of the material you say is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it, such as the page URL.
  4. Your contact information: name, address, phone number, and email.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

Notices missing these items may not be actionable. Knowingly false claims can create liability under 17 U.S.C. 512(f). When we receive a complete notice, we will act promptly to remove or disable access to the material and make a reasonable effort to let the person who posted it know.

Counter-notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same agent. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(g)(3), it must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district where we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.

We will forward a valid counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us they have filed a court action, we may restore the material 10 to 14 business days after we receive the counter-notice.

Repeat infringers

In appropriate circumstances, we disable or end the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
